A little more than a year ago I was feeling the need to re-connect with my life purpose and find the energy to go for it again. That seems to get a lot harder as a person gets older as the traumas and disappointments that come with time add up and start to drag you down. So I asked for a formula for people at mid-life or beyond and came up with this one:
Elm: for the overwhelm associated with starting over or tackling what feels like a big challenge.
Explorer’s Gentian: for those, especially late in life, who have suffered loss and need to re-connect with their soul purpose and re-start the journey again.
Rock Fringe: for tapping into your inherent vitality and what makes your heart sing and and for the energy and enthusiasm to take on new challenges.
It worked beautifully for me! At first I felt more grounded, then lighter in spirit, then more connected to my heart. Then, a day later, I suddenly felt an almost urgent desire to follow through on a business-related project I had been dragging my feet on because I knew it was going to be A LOT of work and I didn’t know if it would be worth the effort. But I finally had the energy to do it and I dug in.
Bu that wasn’t the end of the story. That project—building a new website for my business on Shopify—is still not done! It’s almost done, but one thing after another has cropped up to be dealt with in addition to that project, and sometimes that is exhausting. So, ironically, I found myself needing to re-energize myself to engage with the project again this past weekend and a customer asked me for a recommendation for the SAME thing! (You would not believe how often that happens in the life of a healer.) So I remembered this formula—and had to re-assure her that it was not JUST for people at mid-life.
So now I’m telling you and I re-wrote my Etsy listing description: it’s not JUST for people at mid-life. It’s for anyone who has been thrown off their path by the needs that come up and HAVE to be addressed in life. And then feels a bit beaten down and needs help to pick themselves up and re-engage again.
Just remembering this formula again was helpful to me. My new website is still not ready to launch and I still don’t know if it will be worth it, but I am feeling proud of myself for following through and figuring out how to do each thing step by step. It is starting to look good—way better than my Etsy shop! So I know it is worth it for me to re-engage with the project again. And I will.
